If he spends most of his time sleeping and eating during the first days of his life, you will be able to notice his first signs of awakening quite quickly throughout his first two years...

My baby from 0 to 24 months: his intellectual development

Communication and language learning. The period from birth to 2 years of age is marked by many stages of awakening. As the weeks go by, baby will become more and more curious: he will try to attract your attention and communicate with you! He will first of all address you with smiles when he sees you: generally, this great happiness arrives between baby's 6th and 8th week. However, each child has its own speed of evolution!

In his thirst for communication, the twittering of the first times will gradually give way to more substantial babbling, the consonants generally making their appearance in his "vocabulary" around the 6th month.

But to hear his real first word, you'll still need a little patience: this usually happens between baby's 9th and 12th months. Finally, between 18 and 24 months, your child can already make his first sentences, even if they are still in "telegraphic" version and not necessarily in the right order.

Focus on its driving development.

When she returns from maternity, her motor skills will greatly evolve between 0 and 24 months! It all starts with head movements: baby usually learns to master them between 2 and 3 months of age, which allows him to better observe his environment and follow your movements? This will motivate him to move his legs and arms to capture your attention or grasp all the toys he sees!

Between 6 and 8 months, baby will also be able to sit up by himself and then start to move on all fours before taking his first steps. From this point on, baby's movements will become more and more coordinated. His sense of balance will also improve and his muscles will become stronger: at 24 months, he will be able to walk and jump almost as well as a grown-up!

Baby's first year: an organism still developing!

Sight, teeth, first steps and vaccinations. If your baby's hearing is already good at birth (she'll be fully mature around one month old), her eyesight is not! In fact, the newborn's field of vision is very limited, his sight is blurred and he can't yet distinguish colors... Don't worry: he already sees enough to recognize you!

Moreover, his sight will progress a lot during his first year: at 12 months, his visual acuity will be about 4/10th. Another important evolution: the establishment of the dentition! The first baby teeth usually come out between 4 and 6 months: at this period, you can also start to diversify his diet... Other dental thrusts will follow, at 1 or 2 months intervals.

During his first year, baby will also learn to control his muscles little by little: around 3 months of age, he will be able to move his head, then he will learn to grasp objects better and better and even to sit up by himself between 6 and 8 months of age!

Then will come the sweet time of exploring the world on all fours, then he will take his very first steps, usually between 9 and 12 months... Finally, don't forget that since 2018, babies must be vaccinated against 11 vaccines. Until now, only the diphtheria, tetanus and polio vaccine was indeed imposed, while other injections were strongly recommended.

Now, vaccines against hemophilia's influenzae B, pertussis, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, meningococcus C, and pneumococcus are being added.
